Our aim/purpose of the day

Dying is something that affects us all, however we know that there is variability in the provision of services to support individuals in the last year of life across Greater Manchester.  Equitable access to high quality, holistic, personalised palliative and end of life care not only ensures a more positive experience of death and dying for Greater Manchester individuals and their families - it also protects other health care services, under unprecedented strain even before the impact of COVID.

The Greater Manchester Commitments provide the foundation for working collaboratively to ensure people can live well in the last year of their life, before dying as comfortably as possible, in the place of their choice.  Our summit will explore how a truly integrated, whole system approach to commissioning, provider and community engagement will help ensure the sustainable delivery of equitable, high quality palliative and end of life care and support to Greater Manchester people of all-ages and their families for years to come.

Target audience (all-ages)

This one-day (face to face only) summit brings together ICB executive leads and place based leads, policy makers, commissioning leads for palliative and end of life care, clinical and non-clinical leads (e.g. Hospice CEOs), providers and other stakeholders, from clinical and non-clinical backgrounds, to share their experiences, initiatives and vision from across palliative and end of life care for adults, children and young people.

We also welcome colleagues from other associated workstreams: ageing well, social care, frailty, cancer, dementia, children’s and young people incl. from a neonatal setting.

Getting involved

We will be utilising Mentimeter during the summit, please visit https://www.menti.com/ and download this prior to the session through your web browser.  A Mentimeter app is also available on a smartphone/tablet with the appropriate code(s) to be provided on the day.
