IMTS2 Simulation Training

Thank you all for your patience with regards this.  I appreciate that it will have caused many of you anxiety as to how to achieve the new curriculum requirements for SIM training.

I am pleased to be able to share with you the dates of “SIM” sessions that have kindly been offered so far within the region to help support this.

Much of the hard work in setting these up has been courtesy of Dr John Anderton and Dr Raj Parikh supported by Nicola Moffitt (Programme Support Officer)

A few important points to note:

• Please only book 1 session initially – we have over 600 higher specialty trainees - IMT2 needing SIM training in the Northwest and Mersey so there will be huge demand for these sessions – they will be on a first come first served basis, but more dates and venues will be added in due course.
• We appreciate that the first few dates are quite soon, and that many trusts have a policy of requiring sufficient notice for leave if this impacts on a direct clinical session such as a clinic – please try and adhere to local trust policy and try to avail of any suitable sessions that minimise impact to fixed clinical sessions already planned.
• Funding for the sessions is coming from a Study Leave top slice, but you still need to request study leave time and claim back any expenses incurred in the usual manner via Accent.
• It is essential that individuals attend their booked sessions or cancel in good time so the slot can be offered to someone else.
• Your feedback will be invaluable for these sessions – the sessions have been offered by the host sites and they all have experience at delivering high quality SIM sessions, but your feedback will be crucial to improve them over time.
